Ohio State, Colorado Football Report

With talk of the Pacific-12 Conference rejecting any further expansion earlier in the week, the Colorado Buffalos, currently 1-2, had a fantastic game that seems to have escaped everyone’s attention. This could be due to the offense.

The Colorado team has a basic offense that doesn’t excite the football aficionados. The interesting fact about this game, though there has not been much media attention, is due to the fact that the Buffaloes are currently not ranked.

The team from Ohio State, the Buckeyes was beaten by the Miami Hurricanes, 24-6. At the third down the Buckeyes were only 4-of-12. Despite Jim Tressel having left the team, Ohio State was two cautious and very simple in their offensive play. The previous week the Buckeyes had held back Toledo, and emerged 27-22 victors against the Rockets. In this match against Miami they intercepted Jacory Harris, the senior quarterback, twice, they themselves had one interception. But it wasn’t enough to overcome the poor offensive play.

One person who was happy to watch the Buckeyes struggle against the run was Rodney Stewart, the RB from the Buffaloes. Stewart managed a total of 98 yards rushing combined with 93 yards catching. While he didn’t get into the end zone himself, he lead his time to a 28-14 victory over Colorado State in their third week. The starting quarterback Tyler Hansen, ended up with two touchdowns on the ground and via passes to his wide receivers, Toney Clemons and Klye Cefalo.

While many believe it would be a miracle if the Buffaloes actually won in Columbus this coming weekend, in 2011 the Buckeyes have been seen to be fallible. Although Colorado is not invincible, they almost beat California by 3-0, and if they don’t let nerves get to them, they should be able to compete in Ohio Stadium. One team who played poorly in the third week was the Rams, managing just 243 yards. Hawaii, currently 1-2, achieved 343 yards at home to the Buffaloes, so keeping the team from Ohio State in check, a win is possible.
